Why Kailyn?
Kailyn was a camp counselor for two summers and a camper for over ten. She grew up in a camp atmosphere, and wants to share the ridiculous, amazing, hilarious, and stressful life that one has working at a summer camp. She feels as though the story of the counselor is not one that film often covers, and wants to change that, thus the creation of Summer Camp as her first project and 30-minute script.

In a way, Kailyn is all of those characters she writes in this show. She's writing this show because she was one of those college kids who wound up working at a summer camp for two summers in a row, and she's writing this show for both her friends who were there with her and those who were not.
It’s amazing how many people worked with or around kids in the woods at some point and how universal some of the stories and experiences are.
There’s always a kid who refuses to be normal.
There are camp crushes.
You lose your water bottle at least two times a week.
You get very little peace and quiet for the fact that you’re in the middle of the woods.
A lot of the energy is fake and performative.
There’s always someone who for some reason hates kids but is in this job.
Those little truths are what Kailyn wants to bring light to with this show. She wants people who have worked at a summer camp to feel seen, but more so, she wants them to feel exposed. There’s no hiding from the truth this show sheds light on, and that is, being a counselor at a summer camp is great, but the worst part is the kids.
